Improve Physical Fitness
One of the most obvious yet effective ways to improve your volleyball game is to train your physical fitness. There are a number of ways you can do this but we’ll provide recommendations for what we think are the best volleyball workouts.
Try sprinting 40 to 50 yards at maximum speed for 15 minutes with 30-second breaks to improve your physical stamina and endurance.
Dumbbell snatch, overhead-triceps, single-head-RDL, dumbbell squats, and shoulder stretches are all great exercises for volleyball players to do. These exercises will help with key skills such as serving, returning, and general gameplay. They will also promote an increase in muscle strength.
Jump rope is a great way of strengthening both the upper and lower body muscles as well as increasing cardiovascular health.
Knowing how to properly balance both of your feet to your body’s center of gravity is an important thing to know. Learn to better balance yourself in a serving stance.
The other important parameters to train include feet direction and space, target focus, arm swing, ball tossing angle, and angle of the serve.
The different serving types to practice would include an underhand, floater, jump, and topspin to improve the “ace” serve.
Passing is an important skill in volleyball which is why the best players know how to pass perfectly. Locking of elbows, arm and shoulder position, and the balancing of body postures are all critical aspects of maturing as a volleyball player.
You want to focus on developing your concentration to see serving height, ball trajectory and speed, team member position, and ball float are all critical things to improve team performance and coordination.
Slow Motion Training
Slow-motion training is a great way to increase awareness and agility of your mind on the court.
It can help you become a fast-paced player who is prepared for any dynamic role.
It can also increase team coordination and watch your opponents’ movements during the game.
Learn to Block
Good blocking can be the difference between a win and a loss. Jumping, ball handling, shoulder, arm, and hand positioning are the most important parts to improve on to become better at blocking.
It’s also important to train for the proper position of fingers, wrists, court penetration, and body posture while blocking can help you become an efficient blocker.
